winter wonder | driftwood

A tree limb carried through the tides and waves of the vast ocean is transformed into an elegant piece of driftwood. The weathering effect of the often tumultuous waters is immediately evident in the grayed piece of wood, which is precisely what marks its value. Sharp edges have dissolved into soft curves.
Who could resist the metaphor? Just as one respects the time worn hands of a grandfather, one can appreciate the effects of a long journey. The journey can be arduous. It is always surprising. The results are certainly wisdom – beauty.
