Jeffrey Sheppard, AIA, co-founder of Roth Sheppard Architects will be joining the School of Architecture’s ‘future PRACTICE’ lecture series this Wednesday, September 14th, 2011, at 6pm in the Reinsch-Pierce Family Auditorium.

A Georgia Institute of Technology and College of Architecture alumni (1978), Sheppard’s lecture entitled, “Ideation: From Parti’ to Reality” will be presenting the ideas of pushing architecture beyond just the ‘plan,’ into real world applications. Named the Denver AIA Young Architect of the Year in 1989, Sheppard has  overseen the design of more than 50 restaurants, 20 municipal facilities and 40 notable high end retail boutiques including the new Denver Art Museum Shop, as well as the Skye, MAX, DC10, Vesta Dipping Grill, and the Paris-based Printemps. Sheppard’s projects have also received more than 70 American Institute of Architects awards and over 20 other industry awards. Of his works, some of his most notable projects and drawings were featured in the acclaimed hardcover book titled Composite Drawing: Techniques for Architectural Design Presentation in 1997 and acquired by the Denver Art Museum for the institution’s permanent collection.  In addition to serving as the Design Coordinator for the third-year Environmental Design Program at the University of Colorado-Boulder, he has been a guest lecturer and juror at the University of Colorado, Oklahoma State University, and Georgia Institute of Technology’s architecture schools. In 2010, Roth Sheppard Architects was named the Firm of the Year by both the Colorado and Denver chapters of the AIA, and received 16 project awards, more than any firm has received in the history of the AIA.

Roth Sheppard Architects has been working to elevate the Western Mountain Region’s design aesthetic while making a substantial contribution to the national built environment in a multitude of influential ways. Within the firm’s studio environment, deliberate attention to detail and the intricate craft of architecture is explored and celebrated within smaller restaurant, residential and retail projects. These design concepts are then thoughtfully integrated into larger scale civic building. His works strive to incorporate ideas of functionality and creativity and bridge them to form highly innovative, celebrated designs in architecture.
